What does the e935 Dynamic Cardioid Microphone do best?

It is a dynamic microphone, so it suits loud, close sources where a condenser would struggle. Vocals, guitar cabinets and drums are its natural territory.

Does it need phantom power?

No. Dynamic microphones are passive and run straight into any standard mic input.

Is a preamp required?

Any mic input with reasonable gain will drive it. Quiet sources benefit from a preamp with plenty of clean gain.
